16 Beat Composition (sfz)
This activity guides students through creating a 16-beat ABAC composition. Using a teacher-selected set of notes students will write rhythms, solfa and pitch, then notate their phrases on the staff.

Description
Help your students explore simple composition using this activity, which will have them create a 16-beat, ABAC phrase. Students can use any notes you choose, but pentatonic scales would be a great starting point. Students will write their rhythm, solfa, and pitch, and then add their phrases to the staff.
