The Boogie Man is not to be in any way a scary song. This is to be a funny look at being afraid of the dark and the Boogie Man who might lurk in the shadows.
Please add sounds as you feel appropriate. I think chains rattling, rain sticks swishing (to represent the wind blowing, foot steps…
Why not darken the whole hall and have the students holding torches up to their faces (you know – like when you tell scary stories around a camp fire)
At the end of the song, get softer and softer, leaning towards the conductor – and then scare the living daylights out of the audience with the sudden BOO at the end.
Very very funny!!!!!!
Another thing I like to do when I write is to add some tone colour with the addition of an instrument – this piece has two recorders.
