This series of EIGHT sheets is designed to practice known rhythmic elements. Not only that, it has the added bonus of having direct benefits for learning in language literacy.

Read through the list of words with the class and do the first few together. They can then work individually, or in pairs or small groups, clapping out the names and writing them in the correct column. But, don’t just leave it at that. Why not:
– clap through them all
– play them on instruments
– create rhythms combining some of the words
– use some of these created rhythms as ostinati to known songs
– add other words suggested by the students

The eight worksheets have answer sheets making them easy to mark, leave for relief teachers, or pop into workbooks.

Titles are: Rhythm of Sport, Insects, The Beach, Instruments, Cooking, Roald Dahl, Trees and Fruit. (Fruit is in compound metre)
