Heart Beat Mats
These beat representations are great for composition and dictation.
Print these, back to back to save paper, onto thin card. The red version of the hearts can be printed on a colour printer (if you are lucky enough to have access).
These would also work well on a data projector or interactive white board.
They are so useful! Laminate them so students can write on them with whiteboard pens. Or use manipulates to represent the number of sounds they hear on each beat.
You can perform rhythmic patterns and students write or represent the rhythms on the ‘beats’. Match sticks work well. Counters are great too.
