Ep 103

Podcast Highlights

Welcome to “Year Level Snapshots: A Bird’s Eye View of Prep through Year 6” with Deb and Debbie. In this episode, we’re spotlighting Year 2, one of our favorite year levels.

At this stage, our students are bursting with enthusiasm and curiosity, ready to dive deeper into the world of music.

We’ll discuss how we harness their excitement to teach more complex concepts and introduce them to the instruments of the orchestra. As we prepare for recruiting students for strings at the end of the year, we also help them explore all instrument options, guiding them to make informed choices about whether to join the strings or wait for the band.

Join us as we explore the dynamic and joyful world of Year 2 music education!

Interesting & light-hearted comment on what you use in year 2. Find the content useful, i.e., what songs you use to teach certain concepts. A constructive comment from me is to talk like you’re talking to other music teachers who have spent their whole lives learning or teaching music (in that, over 50 years). I started learning piano at age 7 & have learnt music like it was my first language. Not everyone needs the discussion to be simplified.
